Chance to shine on silver screen

TWO budding filmmakers are appealing for actors to help make their dream a reality.

Peter Adams and L Carpenter, from Barrow, have a script and everything in place to start filming Winter Hill.

Mr Adams said: “The film is about young people who want to find something – a more exciting life – but have to make the change themselves.

“We’re independent film makers. We don’t have any funding behind us so we’re looking for people who would like to act in a film and have some fun.

“We’ve done lots of short films before but this will be our first feature-length movie. I studied for two years at Lancaster and Morecambe College and have been trying to get into the industry but unless you move to London, jobs are sparse.

“We’ve been working on this for about six to eight months.

“The Lake District is inspirational for actors and film makers but they tend to be nice films made by American directors, like Miss Potter. We want to change that.”

Mr Carpenter, 20, said: “This film is about real people in real situations in Cumbria.”

Mr Adams, 23, added: “We just need actors who are interested in being in a film – not for the money but for the experience. No experience is necessary.”

Both men cite Kevin Smith, US director of Clerks and Mallrats, as an influence, while Mr Adams is a big fan of Stanley Kubrick. Mr Carpenter said he was influenced by the work of Richard Linklater and Jason Reitman.
