A SOLICITOR who specialises in the renewable energy sector has been promoted to partner at a Cumbrian law firm.
South Cumbrian law firm Temple Heelis Commercial has appointed two new partners in Brett Cooper and Wanda Goodhead.
Mr Cooper joined the company in 2004 after graduating from law school and in 2010 moved over to the commercial side of the business. He now specialises in corporate and commercial law with a personal and professional interest in Cumbria’s growing renewable energy sector.
He said: “There has been a recent increase in the number of renewable energy initiatives happening around the north west. TH Commercial has been advising clients in specialist areas such as anaerobic digestion and wind farm projects.
“I studied biology before I went into law so I think an interest in the environment has stayed with me. I really enjoy working with renewable energy clients; it’s great to think that our advice and work contributes to a greener world.”
Agricultural law specialist Wanda Goodhead joined Temple Heelis in 2011 from an agricultural law firm in Derbyshire where she spent several years working on a varied range of matters including the buying and selling of land and farm diversification businesses. Her career also includes several years working with a Top 50 law firm in Manchester.
She said: “The agricultural business sector is not just about farms. It encompasses a vast array of organisations including companies who are part of the complex agricultural supply chain. This could be farming equipment manufacturers, service providers, or the food industry.
“My commercial and agricultural experience allows TH Commercial to add value to the firm’s expanding rural client base.”
TH Commercial is a specialist commercial law firm specifically designed to meet the needs of businesses in Cumbria and the north west. Most of the company’s lawyers come from larger city-based firms who are used to dealing with complex business issues.
