Bikers to form a ‘rolling road block’ A590 protest

HUNDREDS of motorcycle enthusiasts will form a ‘rolling road block’ on the A590 this Sunday to demonstrate against new European legislation.

Have your say

Actually No 1, my road tax for my 650cc bike is more than twice as much as it is for my car. Also, there are no restrictions on whatever modifications I want to make to my car. The Government does not tell me what clothing I have to wear when driving my car. When I learnt to drive, there was no restriction on the power output of my car, whether that be the one I was learning in ( Golf GTI) or the one I drove after that, yet bikers are restricted by additional burden by people who have no idea what they are talking about and have provided no evidence to support the need for additional legislation. Hence the reason we are demonstrating.

I would like to know how many of the so called demonstrators really know what the cause is all about! Not just out on their mopeds to cause nause and have a laugh for the day!!!

And car drivers would do a rolling block ? Deal with it biker boys, is your tax insurance as much as a cars is ? I dont think so, so bikers pulling wheelies around 30mph roads on a regular basis is ok or does that infringe on there human rights aswell, grow up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it will be nice to see bikers riding along the A590 at a sensible speed for once on a Sunday - the number of times you have to get out of the way of the bikers doing 70+ (or even 100!) is ridiculous...
Yes, cars break the law also, but it's the attitude of bikers who expect other road users to get out of their way which is frustrating to the point of dangerous.
Cue anti-car comments from the biking fraternity.....

All those winging about protesters inconveniencing their day should take note that this is about them too. Once these unelected european meddlers get this passed on bikes do they really think they will be left alone. It will only be a matter of time before the car driver is targeted for the same treatment. Everyone who owns a motor vehicle, no matter what type it is should be supporting this protest!

Good coments by Spark. In fact the very same do gooders proposed that all car owners be made to use only original manufacturers parts, and only be able to replace tyres with the manufacturers recommended brand of tyre.
It was only because of the uproar from motoring groups and spares manufacturing companies, that these plans were quietly .
For example, as a car owner, a replcement Test exhaust pipe from the manufacturer would cost me an eyewatering £850.... wheras a pattern exhaust would only cost me £200.
Seems like the meddling do gooders are trying to pick on a smaller consumer group (bike owners) before they return their focus onto car owners.
Good luck to the biking fraternity in countering these plans, or mark my words...the long suffering motorist will be next!

I won't be able to join the demonstration due to work commitments but I support 110% your actions. As a motorcyclist that currently rides a modified 1991 Honda CBR600 which has passed stringent MOT requirements, is taxed and insured therefore allowing me to ride on this coutries roads and motorways I feel that the implications of this legislation would force me to use my car therefore adding to congestion and more environmental pollution.

Maybe if more car drivers were asked to spend some time doing a CBT they would be more understanding of motorcycles and how vulnerable sometimes they make us. We would have less road traffic and more knowledgeable road users.

As for the protest: If the car drivers think a rolling road block of 40,000 motorcycles is bad. Imagine if all the motorcyclists decide to bring a car instead to prove a point!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe thats a good idea? Who Knows? Time will tell!

Mike or 'pal' Just wanted to get a bite off some sad 'its everyone else's fault' biker, and still selfish by causing a rolling road block to prevent people who are travelling to somewhere more important than whining about laws, Roary the racing driver ! ha ha

Would like to stress to all car drivers - if we let the EU away with their directives & impose their laws - You car drivers will be next!!!! Yes I am both & will protest because of what I believe in, would be interesting how many car drivers pass the 'bike test' & if did would be more aware of us .......we all have eyes & a brain !!!!

I'm sure if the "do gooders" in Brussels said that car owners couldnt put fancy lights, wheels, spoliers on their cars there would be uproar. Even if you didnt want to do such you would at least have that right to make your own decision and not at the whim of someone sat in an office in another country
