Woman hit by car in Barrow

A WOMAN was injured when she was hit by a car in Barrow.

The 48-year-old was hit by the car at around 5.15pm on Monday when she was crossing the road at the junction of Abbey Road, Holker Street and Rawlinson Street.

She sustained minor injuries. Anyone who saw the incident or has any information is asked to contact Barrow police on 101.

Have your say

I once got so fed up of waiting for the green man at that junction that I set-up a picnic table and drank a flask of coffee while I was there.

I dont see a problem with this junction... roundabout is the worst idea ive ever heard there would be tail backs in every direction. Cant know the circumstances but my bet would be she crossed on the red man. Uk jaywalking is only used in civil law but at pelican crossing the pedestrian does not have right of way they have to wait for the green man. I'd love to see UK jaywalking made law and pedestrians fined for dangerous crossing. Fed up of cocky people crossing wandering slowly.
