Snap our calendar photos
Last updated at 15:56, Wednesday, 16 May 2012
BUDDING photographers are today given the chance to have their work published in a limited edition Evening Mail calendar for 2013.
We are calling on talented snappers to submit their most inspiring images of Barrow, the South Lakes and west Cumbria as part of our Picture Perfect competition.
The most striking submissions will be shortlisted to appear before our judging panel – with 36 eventually selected to feature in the A4 glossy calendar which will be on sale later this year.
Each page will feature one image from the borough of Barrow, one image of the South Lakes and one image from West Cumbria, relevant to the time of year.
Evening Mail Deputy Editor, James Higgins, said: “We know from the sheer volume of submitted pictures we receive, that the Evening Mail has a number of talented photographers among its readership.
“We publish a picture of the day in each edition of the newspaper which reflects this, and also have a very popular Flickr group, Furness Photogs, from whom we receive some stunning images.
“Now we are calling on people to step up to the plate and take pictures so stunning, that the task of selecting the best few will be near-impossible for our panel of judges.”
Any subject matter will be accepted, from scenes of nature, to animals, buildings of note and people.
The competition opens today. All images must be submitted via email to jayne.cargan@cnmedia.co.uk and must be 25 cm wide with a resolution of 300dpi.
When submitting images, please mark the email subject line as Picture Perfect and make clear in the body of the email for which month in the calendar it is intended.
Emails must include the name and contact details of the image copyright holder.
Image owners, in making a submission, agree that it may be printed in the North-West Evening Mail and in the 2013 calendar.
The closing date for entries is June 8.
- The Evening Mail will also be producing a Memories Calendar for 2013.
It will feature images from the area and take people on a nostalgic trip through time, courtesy of images from the Evening Mail’s extensive picture archive.
Both calendars are due to be available from October.
