Recruits looked up to hero Barrow soldier, 23

TRIBUTES have been paid to a hero who died after coming under enemy attack in Afghanistan.

Have your say

I didn't know this young man or his family but I would like to offer my deepest sympathy at this sad time. The armed forces exist to serve and protect us and go where they are instructed. I don't think we should be in Afghanistan but it takes nothing away from the fact he was a very brave young man who paid the ultimate sacrifice. R.I.P. and Thank You

Another of our bravest, gone too soon. RIP from a fellow soldier. Gone but never forgotten.

Another young casualty of the government policy of sending our heroic soldiers to the back end of stupid wars, which will never end, protecting medieval dust bowls which mean nothing to world order, at the back-ends of this Earth, in order to appease the UK's international duty...... Isn't it about time they ALL were brought home...... If I signed up for service to "protect Queen and Country" this farce is not what I would expect to endure. RIP a brave soldier! God Bless.

We young soldiers are not dying needlessly infact its quite thoughtless of you to say such a thing, David died protecting others and making Afghanistan a better place. What you hear in the paper and see on the news may make you think like this but coming from a man who has seen it 1st hand and one of Davids company we ARE making a diffrence and to die helping a nation out ang giving others a better life in my eyes is the best way to go! We are proud of what we are doing in Afghan, Shaw wouldnt have been there otherwise....
R.I.P to a true hero and lion on england.
See you in the Re-org. x
