TRIBUTES have been paid to a hero who died after coming under enemy attack in Afghanistan.
Every soldier who is lost is a great loss not only to his family home town but to the nation. Doing the job he loves and being proud to go and protect the lives of others and which in turn protects the people of this country. I do not know this lad Kinsman Dave, but i am proud you have gone and done your work, giving your life in the service of this country. I am also sad that in your prime you tour has ended this way. Stand proud lad and I pray you family will have the courage to get through the days, weeks and months ahead. Always remember there are lots of us out here who know your lad is a real true courageous soldier. Rest easy now Kinsmen Dave your job is done. Mother of 2 retired soldiers. former Border Reg.
.
REST IN PEACE DAVE
A youth, to fortune and to fame unknown.
Fair science frowned not on his humble
birth,
And melancholy marked him for her own.2 Large was his bounty, and his soul sincere,
Heaven did a recompence as largely send:
He gave to misery all he had, a tear,
He gained from Heaven(twas all he wished) a friend.3 No further seek his merits to disclose,
Or draw his frailties from their dread abode,
There they alike in their trembling hope repose,
The bosom of his Father and his God.

Have your say
I didn't know kingsman dave shaw but I do know that he served and died in the name of his country. For that I want to thank him. His family will quite rightly be immensely proud of him.
Whether you believe in the war in Afghanistan or not (and personally i do) the fact remains this soldier died fighting for his and our country. He deserves the utmost respect for that.
R.I.P Kingsman Dave Shaw and thankyou.
