Punk rocks Barrow club the Kill One

A DOZEN punk acts hit the stage at Barrow’s Kill One for an all-day charity concert.

Bands from across the UK headed for the British Workmans Club, in Duke Street, on Sunday for a marathon show to raise money for Furness General Hospital’s Oncology Unit and MacMillan Nurses.

Local act A Kaizen Blitz were joined by names such as Crackshot, PedAgree Skum, Streetpunk Drunks and Eaten By Crows, as Furness punk fans enjoyed nearly 12 hours of live music.

Organiser Stew Henry, from S.K.A. Promotions, said that despite a low turnout, it is definitely something they will be looking to put on in the future.

“It is the first time we’ve put anything like this on in Barrow, and I think we picked a bit of a bad day for it really,” he said.

“With it being a Sunday it also clashed with the big football matches, so that was a factor, and we didn’t raise as much as we’d have liked. We haven’t counted up the money yet, but it won’t be what we were hoping for.

“Overall though it was a good event and the bands really enjoyed themselves. We definitely want to put on another one again soon.”
