‘I’ll kill ex and her dad’ – Barrow man's threat
Last updated at 17:09, Wednesday, 26 September 2012
A JEALOUS lover clambered on to a roof armed with a knife and threatened to kill his girlfriend and her dad after seeing pictures of her with another man on Facebook.
Nathan John Dacre, 24, made the threats to his mum, Lisa Rose Dacre, after his relationship with his girlfriend broke down.
Mrs Lisa Hine, prosecuting, told Furness Magistrates’ Court yesterday(Tues) Dacre had worked at the Beech Hill Hotel, Windermere, with his girlfriend, but left the job when the couple had relationship problems.
He was hurt “very deeply” when he discovered she had texted another man.
On September 2, Dacre went missing and turned up at his mother’s home “blind drunk” and angry after seeing pictures on Facebook of his girlfriend with somebody else.
Mrs Hine said Dacre threatened to kill his girlfriend, cut her dad’s head off and kill people at the Beech Hill Hotel. Dacre, who had a carving knife in his belt, vowed to “hit the headlines”.
Mrs Dacre was scared for her own safety and her son’s because he threatened to kill himself if she rang the police.
When he put the knife on the sofa, she ran outside, put the knife in a bush and called the police.
When officers arrived just after midnight, they found the defendant on the garage roof. He threatened to throw a brick at an officer and jump if the police tried to climb up.
A police negotiator eventually talked him down.
Under police interview, Dacre said he would “never carry out threats like that”.
Mr Andy Gallagher, defending, said: “Clearly the breakdown of this relationship had a profound effect on him and his mental health, in particular, and he resorted to drink and tablets.”
Dacre, who gave his address as Holbeck Road, Barrow, admitted common assault and a public order offence and was given a 12-month community order.
