Drivers warned of roadworks on M6 motorway in Cumbria

DRIVERS are being warned of roadworks on the M6 motorway in Cumbria.

A £250,000 Highways Agency project to resurface sections of the northbound M6 around Junction 36 at Millness in Cumbria will get under way later this month.

The work, which includes reconstructing lane one of the northbound carriageway between the exit and entry slip roads, will be carried out over two weekends starting on Friday February 21.

The first weekend involves the closure of the northbound exit slip road from 8pm Friday February 21 to 6am Monday February 24.

Over the subsequent weekend, the northbound entry slip road will be closed from 8pm Friday February 28 to 6am Monday March 3.

Additionally, between the hours of 8pm and 8am on each of those days, lanes one and two of the main carriageway will be closed, with lane two reopened during day time hours.

A temporary 50mph speed limit will be in force on the northbound carriageway during the works period.
