Curfew follows assault on PC

THE following cases were dealt with at Furness Magistrates’ Court.

Nicola Stevens, 33, of Severn Road, Walney, was placed under a community order, with three-month curfew, after admitting assaulting PC Paul Grierson on May 1.

Paul Anthony Woolveridge, 35, of Mardale Grove, Barrow, was fined £250, with £75 costs, after pleading guilty to possessing heroin in Barrow on April 9.

Darren Richard Fawcett, 35, of Lesh Lane, Barrow, was given a conditional discharge for 12 months after admitting stealing two packets of biscuits and two pints of milk belonging to Roose Road Co-op.

He asked for one similar offence to be taken into consideration. He was ordered to pay £60 costs with £3.68p compensation.

Shah Jalal Miah, 20, of Rawlinson Street, Barrow, was fined £100, with £75 costs, after pleading guilty to possessing a quantity of cannabis on May 21.

Darren Craig, 37, of Low Cliff, Barrow, was placed under a one-year community order after admitting theft of a credit card belonging to Diane Lesley Dickinson, at Pennington on April 8, and fraud by false representation.

He was also ordered to undertake a drug rehabilitation programme and pay compensation of £1,550.

Sheena Jo-anne Curzon, 37, of Holker Street, Barrow, was placed under a six-month community order and ordered to pay £75 compensation and £70 costs after admitting assaulting Christopher Coleman on April 21.

Wesley Michael Gardner, 19, of Lonsdale Road, Millom, was fined £80 with £65 costs after admitting urinating in the street in Millom on April 12.

Stephen Newton, 47, of Dragley Beck, Ulverston, was fined £400, with £75 costs, after a charge of failing to give information re a driver’s identity as required at Penrith on January 9, was proved in his absence.

Alan Sherwood, 36, of Maple Street, Barrow, was fined £200, with £75 costs, after a case of failing to give information re a driver’s identity as required at Penrith on January 20 was proved in his absence.
