Barrow woman’s guilty plea after £25k house arson attack

A WOMAN has pleaded guilty to an arson which caused £25,000 of damage to a terrace house.

Six firefighters fought the blaze at the two-storey end terrace in Storey Square, Barrow, for more than an hour after it broke out in the early hours of November 24.

Nobody was at home at the time of the fire and no-one was injured.

Yesterday Sarah Marie Noblet, 33, pleaded guilty to committing arson at the property.

Judith Knott, prosecuting, said Noblet of Lesh Lane, Barrow, had agreed to admit the offence on the grounds of recklessness.

The court heard the fire caused £25,000 of damage to the property, which belongs to Jill Hollingsworth.

District Judge Gerald Chalk committed Noblet to be sentenced at Preston Crown Court, where she is due to appear on February 12.

  • Kevin Luke John McSkimmings has also been charged with arson in relation to the fire at the Storey Square property.

McSkimmings, 28, of Lesh Lane, Barrow, indicated no plea to the charge when he appeared in Furness Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

He has been sent for trial at the crown court and is due to have his first appearance at Preston Crown Court on
February 12.
