Barrow store indecency trial

A MAN is due to stand trial accused of theft and outraging public decency.

Gerard George McBlain pleaded not guilty to one charge of theft and one of outraging public decency when he appeared at Furness Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

It is alleged McBlain was “behaving erratically” in the Home Bargains store in Dalton Road, Barrow, on Monday.

McBlain, of Lower Brook Street, Ulverston, is alleged to have dropped his trousers before wiping his genitals with self-tanning wipes in the shop.

It is also alleged McBlain attempted to steal cosmetics from the store.

The 31-year-old was remanded in custody and is due to stand trial in Furness Magistrates’ Court on October 1.
