Workmen were busy yesterday dressing Barrow’s tree with festive lights ready for mayor Councillor Wendy Maddox to flick the switch on Saturday at 5.15pm.

From 3.30pm entertainment in the run up to the switch-on will include presenters from The Bay, Steve Hall from Britain’s
Got Talent, Michael Buble tribute Denis Horan and JK as Robbie Williams.

Road closures will be in place on Saturday evening and diversions for traffic will be clearly marked.

Have your say

lights? what lights? you mean them pathetic excuse of christmas lights? I like the ones on the town hall itself but the ones the length of Dalton Road look really tacky and dont exactly bring festive cheer!

Why doesnt the council get local companies to sponsor the replacement of new christmas lighting just like they did with the roundablut floral displays- now theres an idea!
