Barrow pupils in pyjamas enjoy festive stories

EXCITED children donned their onesies as they gathered round the Christmas tree for a festive story session.

Barrow and Furness MP John Woodcock was the special guest at Greengate Infant School in Barrow, and brought along his own pair of pyjamas to get into the spirit.

Up to 200 pupils and their parents gathered at the Greengate Street school for the Christmas event and were treated to hot dogs and refreshments.

Mr Woodcock read Careful Santa to the youngsters.

Other festive tales were told by headteacher Caroline Hoggarth, school adviser Joan Stark and reception teacher Sarah McCowen.

Mrs Hoggarth said the story session was first introduced at the school last year.

She said: “The children all gathered around the Christmas tree and everyone was wearing their pyjamas – there was a lot of onesies too.

“We also had dancing and performed some Christmas songs.

“Mr Woodcock came in his pyjamas.

“I think he bought a new pair specially.

“The parents all really enjoyed it too.

“They were given Baileys hot chocolate and mulled wine.”
