The man had a long history of abusing illegal and then so called 'legal highs' and died because of that. The medical facts are that the taser did not kill him the drugs did......it's very sad indeed and I feel for his family and friends but stop look for fault in the authorities....the inquest was transparent and all the facts know, stop spinning the truth

A very sad case of a young life lost for no reason. The media would do better to label this muck "Knocked up in a filthy garage in Amsterdam" rather than "Designer Drugs". It conveys the image of coolness and acceptability, when it is so far from that, and it has cost this poor family their loved one.

@Barrow Mum...seriously did you read the article? It states it was the drugs that killed him, not the police...the drugs.

The NWE mail need to stop opening this story to comments, i think with such emotional events that occurred on that terrible night the family do not want to read peoples opinions.....I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but under these circumstances they are not appropriate!
In my OPINION..

Just a quick couple of points for barrow mum, if you check your facts before commenting there were NO restraints on Dale whilst the tazor was fired. the tazor was fired to enable the handcuffs to be put on while he was fighting if you read the articles again this is explained.

Another point how many speed bumps are there on Cememetry hill? It would be quite dangerous to travel over said speedhumps whilst , someone is lying in the back of a van thrashing around in restraints.

I hoped the police might issue a statement of intent a) to track down the supplier of the drug and b) to tighten up on the illegal supply of steroids in the area. I also hope those who made adverse comment about the various agencies involved will accept that this has been a thorough investigation by the deputy coroner. It was a tragedy but could happen again

I wonder if the Evening Mail will now apologise to the police for their typically anti-police, hate stirring headlines which have been proved to have no truth nebhind them. At least this so called "news" paper is consistent in its approach, never let the truth get in the way of a good story!!

Barrow Mum... you cannot lay the blame at the door of the police, taser as described by the expert at the inquest is a safe and quick and efficient way of preventing someone from harming themselves and others. it is not used enough by the police and is only used in extreme circumstances. I would like to see you, Barrow Mum stood in that doorway faced with a stockily built male, who had the strength of probably 3 men and who was so out of it that he didn't know what he was doing, i can guarantee that if you had been there with only a baton or cs spray to use at close quarters that you would have been either injured by him or you would have run away and left him to it. You obviously didn't attend the inquest, that is obvious by your comments but the health expert clearly stated that Dale would have died whether the police or ambulance had NOT attended. if you are so against the police and what they do and stand for, then remember those feelings next time you feel the need to call them to deal with your problems and i hope you never need them if your children one day turn against you because they have messed with so called legal highs.

In reply to "barrow mum" her argument does not make any sense. Dale in effect took the risk of death the minute he decided to take the horrific drug and he certainly had the intelligence to know this. You aren't looking for "justice" you are wanting revenge. Do you have no thought for the memories and the re-living of these events must have on these Police Officers. Can I ask you this, if this evening you are confronted by a large strong man out of control and having no idea what he is doing will you a) Call the Police for help or
b) Invite him to sit down and talk
the problem through and maybe
offer to put the kettle on?
I know what I would do run like hell!! but sadly the Police didn't have an option they had to face the situation to protect others.

i dont belive it was the drugs loads of people take drugs everyday they dont die drugs dont take as much lifes as beer or cigs
