TWO men charged with attempted murder following an alleged attack in Barrow have appeared in court today.
Mark Benjamin Wilson, 23, of Newport Street, Barrow, and James Anthony John Wilson, 25, of Church Street, Barrow, appeared in Furness Magistrates' Court this morning.
They have been charged with the attempted murder and robbery of Richard Halls, 26, of School Street, Barrow. The alleged incident took place in the early hours of Monday.
The court heard the duo allegedly robbed a number of mobile phones, three hip flasks and a plastic box of unknown value.
They have also been charged with a further offence of assault on Kirk Woodend, 26, of Barrow, who was allegedly assaulted in Greengate Street, Barrow, during the early hours of Monday, and suffered minor injuries.
The victim of the attempted murder and robbery remains in hospital in a stable condition, and police said they are continuing to provide support to the family.
Neither defendant entered a plea.
Proceedings were adjourned to Preston Crown Court on October 5 and both men were remanded in custody until that date.
Anyone with any information about the assault, or who may have witnessed anything, is asked to contact Barrow CID on 101.
