POLICE are investigating after a 13-year-old girl was subjected to a "vicious attack" in Barrow Park.

The incident happened at around 3.30pm yesterday afternoon.

The victim was approached by a group of girls who launched a sustained and vicious attack on her, kicking and punching her to the face and head.

Two of the girls are described as having long, ginger hair in a pony tail and were wearing black jackets.

Police want to speak to a middle-aged female dog walker who alerted two landscape gardeners to the attack.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
