FROM crowns and tiaras, to sumo wrestling suits, young and old in Furness have wished The Queen a very happy 90th birthday.

Pupils attended royal tea parties and adults proudly draped themselves in the Union Flag to mark Her Majesty's birthday in style.

In Lindal the village's pre-school and toddler group held a family fun day in honour the Queen's birthday.

The event even featured a cardboard cutout of the monarch.

There was also a Queen's birthday cake competition, which was won by the person who guessed the correct weight.

Christina Bravery, Lindal Pre-School administrator, said: "Despite the weather, and in true British style, we carried on with a barbecue and activities on the Green and bouncy castle and the Holborn Hillbillies in the Buccleuch Hall.

"A great day was had by all and we even had the chance to have a photo with the Queen, well a cardboard cutout."

At Lynwood Day Nursery, in Barrow, the children had a royal garden party, which they brought indoors because of the poor weather.

The children enjoyed waving Union Flags and their treats and games.

At Dalton St Mary's CE Primary School the pupils donned crowns and had a regal day dressed as queens, kings, princes and princesses.
