A TEENAGE singer-songwriter from Barrow has penned a poignant song to remember those killed during the terrorist attack in Manchester earlier this week.

Megan Doherty from Holbeck hopes that her emotional musical tribute will help to spread some love.

The 19-year-old beauty student at Furness College revealed she decided to write the song in order to put into words her thoughts and sadness about Monday's horrific attack.

"There's so many people doing such amazing things to try and help the victims and show their support for Manchester," she said.

"I'm not able to go down there and do anything hands-on, but what I can do is write a song to convey how I feel. I find it easier to put my thoughts into a song.

"I don't want people to see music as a negative thing; what happened is so desperately sad but music can be a great healer."

In a post on her Facebook page, the singer, who also works at Gwazi in Rawlinson Street, added: "To say I'm absolutely heartbroken and devastated about the events that have taken place in Manchester would be an understatement. Here is a song I've written for Manchester, in the hope to spread a little bit of love and music."

A former finalist of the Lakes Got Talent competition, Megan has also performed at events such as Kidfest and Ciderfest, and landed a high-profile slot supporting X Factor's Marcus Collins on his show at The Forum in 2014.

The same year, Megan also released her debut EP, Another Day.
