A WOMAN has launched an emotive online search for her missing half brother who was born in Barrow.

Caroline Whyte is looking for her half brother who was born with the name James Ronald Wilkinson in Barrow on April 22 1942.

Mrs Whyte, who lives in Newcastle, is desperate to find her sibling, who has the same father as her. She said that her dad returned to Barrow for Ronald, shortly after his birth, but he had already been adopted.

Mrs Whyte believes her brother's birth certificate will state he was born to Annie Whatoff and Thomas Wilkinson and was christened at St George's in Barrow then adopted.

Although Mrs Whyte knows little about the identity of Ronald's adopted parents, she knows his adopted mother died in 1977 and his father died in 1984. Both are believed to be buried at Barrow Cemetery.

She added: "We need to find him and tell him my dad, Thomas wilkinson, went back to get him but his birth mother had already had him adopted."

Anyone with information about Ronald is asked to contact Evening Mail reporter Amy Fenton at amy.fenton@nwemail.co.uk or on 01229 840161.
