A WOMAN has been jailed for 21 weeks after she assaulted a police officer in a drunken attack.

Genine Rhea Alice Coulson, of Fenton Street in Barrow, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place and assaulting a female police officer when she appeared at Furness Magistrates' Court yesterday.

The 34-year-old, who had previously pleaded not guilty, admitted assaulting PC Dawn Winter in Barrow on October 15 of last year and being drunk in Cavendish Street on the same day.

Magistrates activated a suspended sentence Coulson had been given for common assault following an offence which took place in July last year and jailed her for a total of 21 weeks.

Coulson was also ordered to pay £100 compensation and £600 costs.
