A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a fireman after being rescued from a burning kitchen in Barrow.
Firefighters from Barrow and Walney were called to the house in Lancaster Street at around 10.30pm last night after the homeowner rang 999 to report a fire in her kitchen.
On entering the property, firefighters discovered the homeowner on the floor of the kitchen. The woman, believed to be in her late 50s or early 60s, was rescued from the house and the well-established fire was extinguished.
However, police were later called to the property when the woman allegedly assaulted a firefighter when attempting to regain access to her home. She was arrested on suspicion of assault.
