RAIL passengers face another day of disruption in Barrow and across south Cumbria as guards and drivers joined a strike.

The walkout is the latest escalation of the ongoing dispute over what the union says is a looming threat to guards, with the RMT rail worker's union saying their numbers are likely to be halved under current plans.

Train operator Northern, which runs services across Cumbria, has insisted it is willing to continue talking to the union in the hope of resolving the dispute.

Today's strike action is the second in a matter of days, with Friday's strikes seeing 55 per cent of services in the county failing to operate.

Only four services will depart Barrow for Lancaster, at 7.13am, 10.09am, 1.31pm and 4.10pm.

Trains to Barrow will leave Lancaster at 8.48am, 12.19pm, 2.37pm and 5.20pm.

Services between Millom and Barrow have also been affected, with trains leaving Millom at 7.16am, 8.16am, 9.36am, 10.42am, 12.41pm, 1.37pm and 4.18pm.

Trains will run in the opposite direction at 6.00am, 6.50am, 8.01am, 9.10am, 11.22am, 1.31pm and 2.50pm.
