A weather warning has been issued after forecasters predict winds of up to 70mph.
From 8pm on Tuesday night through to around 10am on Wednesday morning, Cumbria could face strong winds.
The Met Office warning applies to most of the north of England.
The strongest winds are expected to arrive in the North West and move eastwards overnight.
Heavy rain is also expected.
Road, rail and air services may be affected with longer journey times and cancellations possible, while there could also be restrictions on roads and bridges, the Met Office warns.
There is also a small chance of power cuts and damage to buildings, such as tiles blowing off roofs.
