A DANGEROUS new craze which is becoming more and more popular across schools in the UK has left a teenager with serious burns.
The Salt and Ice Challenge which started off in the USA before making its way over the Atlantic, sees youngsters pour salt on their hands before placing an ice cube on top.
The 'challenge,' which is often uploaded to YouTube or other social media platforms, creates a burning sensation which left a teenager from Wales with injuries so bad that doctors considered giving him a skin graft.
The damage is similar to frostbite and can quickly cause third-degree burns.
Ulverston Victoria High School confirmed that none of their pupils had taken part in the craze but said that they would keep a watchful eye after being made aware of its rising popularity by the Evening Mail.
