A COLLISION between three vehicles has caused delays on the A590 in South Cumbria with tailbacks stretching from Haverthwaite to Swarthmoor.
Police were alerted at 11.06am today after a Ford Mondeo and a Fiat motorhome were involved in an accident. Both vehicles were being driven by men.
A third vehicle, a Kia car driven by a woman, was also involved in a the accident.
The westbound lane is blocked, and traffic is building up between the B5278 junction and the Roam Wood junction. Highways England said the road is not expected to be cleared until 2pm.
Eyewitnesses have reported seeing at least three police cars and one ambulance driving to the scene.
The collision is causing tailbacks all the way to Swarthmoor but as of 2.55pm the A590 appears to be starting to clear.

Some confusion has been caused by an automatic fire incident alert, sent out by the Warrington-based control centre for Cumbria Fire and Rescue's 999 calls.
The alert claimed the crash had happened in "Macclesfield, South Lakeland" although it is understood this is a mistake.
