A MAN who was allegedly stabbed in the head in Barrow town centre has discharged himself from hospital after receiving treatment.
An area of Dalton Road between Murrays and Specsavers was cordoned off by police yesterday morning after a man was allegedly stabbed in the head.
The incident is believed to have happened at around 10.15am between Dalton Road and Harrison Street.
A 25-year-old Barrow man was taken to Furness General Hospital with significant facial injuries and was later transferred to Preston Royal Infirmary.
He is understood to have discharged himself from hospital in the early hours of this morning after receiving treatment.
Police are still looking for a suspect described as a male who is 6ft tall, in his mid 20s, wearing a white T-shirt and black bottoms who has made off on a Raleigh push bike towards Paradise Street.
Anyone with any information, or who may have witnessed the incident, is asked to call Cumbria police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
