A CONTROVERSIAL plan to change all schools into academies has been quietly dropped by ministers who are accused of having a "chaotic" education policy.

News that the Education For All Bill would not go before parliament was buried in a written statement, despite the proposed legislation getting the green light in the Queen's Speech.

All schools were due to switch to academy status by 2022 with ministers insisting this would "spread educational excellence everywhere."
