POLICE bodycam footage of the moment officers first walked into the flat of Barrow terror suspect Ethan Stables has been exclusively released to The Mail .

The footage was filmed at his Egerton Court flat after Stables was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill.

The 20-year-old is currently on trial at Leeds Crown Court accused of preparing to commit acts of terrorism at a gay pride night at the New Empire in Barrow.

In a Facebook group chat on June 23 of last year Stables had said: "There's a pride night. I'm going to walk in with a machete and slaughter every single one of them."

Armed police were sent to the area and surrounded the pub in Duke Street.

Stables was arrested on Michaelson Road - just a couple of hundred yards away from the New Empire.

Police visited his Egerton Court flat a couple of hours later.

Bodycam footage showed the messy and unclean bedroom where police found various weapons including knives, a machete and an assault rifle.

The heads of matches had been removed and gathered in a small pot which the prosecution claim is evidence Stables had been attempting to make a pipe bomb.

His defence barrister, Patrick Upward QC, has said Stables had a long history of mental health problems and Asperger Syndrome.

The trial is expected to last two weeks.

Stables, who denies preparing acts of terrorism, is due to take the stand on Tuesday.
