Two teenagers have been jailed for drugs offences in Barrow.

Mohammed Qayyum, 19, of no fixed address, and Thomas Hudson, 19, of Goddard Street, Oldham, were sentenced today at Preston Crown Court.

Qayyum was sentenced to 3 years in prison and to forfeit money recovered from him under the Misuse of Drugs Act, and Hudson was given a sentence of 2 years and 4 months.

They both pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to possession with intention to supply cocaine and heroin.

The pair were arrested on Abbey Road on April 18th 2016 where the drugs, worth a street value of over £8,000 were recovered.

The drugs were prepared in over 800 individual street deals.

Judge Mathieson, prosecuting, said: "This is commercial supply - that is obvious by the amount of drugs involved. This was a serious output with a high purity, you both went into this with your eyes open."

Detective Constable Matthew McFall said: “This case is a classic example of people being involved in drug dealing who have otherwise never been in trouble before for such criminality and have amassed large drugs debts to other criminals involved from Manchester.

“The sentences passed today serve as a warning to those who make the decision to come to the area intending to supply. Doing so can have a long lasting impact on your life.

“This kind of offence only damages our communities and I would urge anyone who has concerns about drug dealing to let your local police know so that we can work together to put a stop to it.”
