A NEW centre for hospital teaching and training has opened, allowing medical students to take exams at Furness General Hospital.

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust have now opened their second Clinical Training and Assessment Centre.

The centre, at the Barrow hospital, will be used as an extension of the existing education department, allowing teaching sessions, clinical skills training, simulation events and undergraduate and postgraduate medical exams.

The first exams taking place at the centre will be the Clinical Assessments for fourth year medical students at Lancaster University.

The centre is a multi-disciplinary training and assessment facility and will be available to all involved in education to book for training sessions and educational events from May 2018.

It will be temporarily based on level two, next to the Education Centre reception at FGH, before being moved to a permanent location at the hospital.
