The Queen thanks her birthday well-wishers with a rare tweet

This is only the second time The Queen has used twitter personally.

I am most grateful for the many digital messages of goodwill I have received and would like to thank you all for your kindness. Elizabeth R.

We decided to take a look at some other well known tweeters and what their first message was.

US President Barrack Obama was an early adopter of Twitter, sending his first tweet a year after the company was created.

In 2013 Pope Francis became the first Pope to use twitter, which he still uses today to reach his nine million followers.

The most followed person on twitter, Katy Perry, started out with a very excited tweet.
