REGISTRATION for teams wanting to take part in the 2017 Keswick to Barrow and Coniston to Barrow walks opens today at noon.

The hugely-popular charity fundraising events are set to take place on Saturday May 6.

This year's walk is the 51st in the history of the Keswick to Barrow.

The idea of walking from Keswick to Barrow originated from a statement made by the late US President, John F Kennedy, that "every American should be capable of walking 50 miles a day".

The Bay's Coniston to Barrow (C2B) Walk is 21 miles, and takes place on the same day as the K2B.

The events are organised by the Keswick to Barrow Walk Committee, whose President is John Hudson, Managing Director of BAE Systems Maritime.

Team coordinators will need all the membership IDs for their team. Charities can be nominated from a list of approved charities.
