HERE is an update on some of the traffic and travel news that may affect you this afternoon in South Cumbria.

TRAFFIC

No major problems reported on the A590 or A595 this morning.

RAIL

Storm Henry is causing some disruption today and high winds and heavy rain is expected in Scotland and northern England.

Speed restrictions are in place between Carnforth and Carlisle which may cause delays of up to 20 minutes.

Speed restrictions are also in place between Preston and Carlisle via Penrith which may cause delays of up to 30 minutes.

The route between Prudhoe - Hexham is closed until further notice following a landslip between Corbridge – Riding Mill in the Farnley area. Customers are being advised that the line between Hexham and Prudhoe will be closed for several weeks to allow the area to be safely assessed and restored.

ONGOING ROADWORKS

A590 Greenodd: Lane one of the eastbound carriageway just west of Greenodd roundabout is currently closed until further notice while a survey of the embankment takes place.

M6 Junction 34 Lancaster: Lancashire County Council work off the motorway on the Heysham Link project requires a lane one and hard shoulder closure in both directions on the motorway around junction 34.
