FROM West End favourites to shows with more of a local twist, local dance groups have never been out of the local spotlight.
Carnival season every year is always a reminder of the degree to which local communities take these organisations to heart.
But there's nothing new there - and as we take another look back in our picture archives to dance shows of years gone by, it's clear that for the many groups across Furness and south Cumbria, there's nothing better than putting on a jolly good show.
And as today's images make clear, they are pretty good at doing so.
From Millom to Barrow and many places in between shows ranged from the world-famous Grease to showcases of the best shows groups had to offer.
There were more than a smattering of award-winners too, with many youngsters pictured with prizes they had won for their endeavours.
They included victors from Millom who had triumphed at the Queen of the Solway dance competition and the Lakeland Stars Dance troupe which had won an incredible 13 trophies in their first year.
