PARTS of the Cumbrian coast have been put on flood alert by the Environment Agency, with warnings of high tides today.
A flood alert - advising residents to be prepared - is in place for the south Cumbria coast, including Walney, Barrow, Ulverston and Grange.
The alert is in place for the high tide today from 11.10am to 1.10pm.
Tidal spray and onshore flooding may occur to roads and some properties along the coast may be affected. People are warned to stay away from the coast.
The astronomical tide of 5.2m above ordnance datum at Barrow has an additional surge of 30cm to 50cm forecast.
In addition, high tides at 12.34am on Thursday and again at 12.56pm have the potential for becoming flood alerts.
Further up the coast, Gretna to Silloth including Port Carlisle, Skinburness and Rockcliffe has been issued with a flood warning, which requires immediate action.
