A ROW of retail units and a rooftop car park in Barrow town centre has been sold at auction for £3m.
Units 11-15 in Portland Walk, which are occupied by Debenhams, WH Smith and the Body Shop, as well as the 106-space rooftop car park above Debenhams, collectively generate a rental income of £495,355.
The car park, which generates a peppercorn rent of nominal value, is run by Barrow Borough Council.
The units were sold at an auction held by Acuitus on May 25 for £3m.
Details of the sale reveal that Debenhams is on a 25-year lease, which is next due for renewal in 2021. Debenhams pays a total of £445,355 a year.
WH Smith's lease is on a rolling agreement, on a three-yearly basis, and was last renewed at the end of December 2016.
The Body Shop is on a lease on the same terms as Debenhams, and pays £50,000 in rent each year.
The units also include an empty premises, which previously housed a sweet shop.
