We asked our readers if they believe MPs who are arrested should have their identities hidden or not after an article in today's Times describes government plans to hide the identity of MPs who have been arrested.

Under proposals set to be outlined this week, the identity of MPs who had been arrested would no longer have to be published by parliament. According to sources, the move has been designed to tackle the anomaly by which MPs are named upon arrest and the wider public are not.

As of 4pm today, 73% of voters believed that MPs should be named if they are arrested, while 27% thought that they should get anonymity in the circumstances.

Earlier today, Barrow and Furness MP John Woodcock agreed, saying he believed politicians should be treated no differently from the general public.

Should MPs be named as soon as they are arrested on suspicion of an offence?
They should be named
They should be granted anonymity
