A ROW which erupted between residents and binmen over claims wheelie bins in a Barrow street had not been emptied in two weeks has ended with a direction order being made.

A representative from Barrow Borough Council confirmed that the bins had been emptied but said that shortly after more rubbish had been dumped into the bins, forcing them to make a direction order against one of the residents.

Families living in Paradise Street in Barrow said their wheelie bins hadn't been emptied for two weeks, and that bins had been 'stolen' and others overflowing with rubbish.

One resident said his bin had been taken by a neighbour, with tempers fraying and some putting litter in each other's bins.

However, employees of Biffa, which carries out the waste collection services in Barrow on behalf of the council, say the bins have been emptied, including this morning.

Comments on the Evening Mail's Facebook seem to be mixed as to whether or not the bins had been emptied.

Some who appear to work for Biffa insist the bins have been emptied, with proof to back up their claims.
