PROPERTY experts have been recruited in a bid to sell the former Frankie & Benny's restaurant in Barrow.

The Restaurant Group has instructed international real estate advisor Savills to sell 23 of its former restaurants in England, Scotland and Wales.

The portfolio includes the former Frankie & Benny's at Hindpool Retail Park in Barrow.

The Barrow venue closed in September of last year amid a "challenging trading period" for the Restaurant Group. A further 32 restaurants were closed at the same time.

Frankie and Benny’s opened in the building formerly occupied by Blockbuster Video on April 27 2013, creating 40 jobs.

The premises being sold by Savills are available on an individual basis and comprise a mix of former Frankie & Benny’s, Chiquito, Joe’s Kitchen, Coast to Coast, Garfunkel’s and Filling Station restaurants in high profile locations including major retail and leisure parks, shopping centres and roadsides.

The restaurants, which are not currently trading, are being sold with existing planning and licensing consents meaning they could be reoccupied quickly.

David Bell, head of UK leisure at Savills, said: "We are pleased to be marketing this high profile portfolio on behalf of TRG.

"Due to the mix of locations and diverse nature of the restaurants involved, we are anticipating strong interest from a wide variety of existing retail and leisure operators as well as new entrants."
