FURNESS children took to the running track to emulate an athlete’s remarkable challenge.
Sonja Foster is running 10 marathons in 10 consecutive days to raise money to support Furness young people.
The fitness instructor and founder of the Parkside Panthers Running Group is raising funds for the Brathay Trust’s Focus on Furness Appeal to help young people have happier futures.
To celebrate the tough challenge, children ran on Furness Academy running track, in Barrow, to between them cover the 262 miles that Ms Foster will run.
The schools who got involved in the event yesterday were; South Walney Juniors, St Pius X Catholic Primary School, Dane Ghyll Primary School, Askam Village School, Victoria Academy, St James CE Junior School, St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Church Walk School, Croftlands Junior School, Sir John Barrow Primary School and Furness Academy Year Sevens.
Ms Foster, whose challenge takes place from May 13 to May 22, said:”It was a fantastic event, the children enjoyed it and the teachers also joined in as well.”
This will be the second time Ms Foster has done the 10 in 10 Challenge.
