DETECTIVES have launched a probe after a two-year-old boy fell from a bedroom window.

An ambulance crew was called to the semi-detatched house in Brook Street, Barrow, at 10.44am on Tuesday and police arrived at the scene eight minutes later.

The injured child was taken to Furness General Hospital and later transferred to Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool.

Police say he is in "a stable condition".

Yesterday the house was still sealed off while scenes of crime detectives continued with their investigations. A community bobby stood at the gate as forensic teams worked inside and neighbours looked on.

The police tape was removed just before 1pm and officers left the street.

The family declined to comment when approached by the Evening Mail.

A police spokesman said: "Police were called at 10.52am yesterday on Tuesday to reports of a two-year-old falling from a first floor window of a property in Brook Street, Barrow.

"The boy was taken to Furness General Hospital and was then transferred to Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool. He is now in a stable condition. A cordon was put in place while police carried out inquiries.

"We have conducted an initial investigation and do not believe there to be any criminal element to the incident at this stage.

"We are now liaising with partner agencies to establish the circumstances."

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust confirmed they had been called to the Barrow address at 10.44am on Tuesday and took a patient to the accident and emergency department at FGH.
