Cumbria Police are investigating the death of a woman in her 70s on behalf of a coroner in Lancashire.

Police said the death was reported to the coroner yesterday following the woman being admitted to the Royal Preston Hospital on Wednesday.

Prior to taking ill the woman was in the area of Millerground, off Rayrigg Road, Windermere, between 12.45pm and 1.15pm on Wednesday walking a dog.

Police are asking anyone who saw the woman at Millerground and have information to get in touch with them. The woman was described as being petite, about 5ft 2in, with short spiked blonde hair, wearing an orange coloured hooded top, a grey or blue t.shirt, and light blue jeans.

She was walking a black and brown border collie cross spaniel dog. Anyone with information is asked to call Cumbria Police on 101, quoting log 171 of June 2.
