POLICE are investigating a Barrow town centre assault which left a man needing emergency medical treatment.

Barrow police are appealing for witnesses following an assault on a 33-year-old man in Cavendish Street at around 2.30am today.

The victim, a man from Rochdale, was repeatedly punched to the face and body, leaving him with facial injuries and a dislocated shoulder, for which he had to receive emergency medical treatment.

Police said the suspect is described as a heavily-built white male in his late twenties to early thirties. He has been described as having a shaved head, full beard and a distinctive tattoo on the back of his neck.
