POLICE are stopping vehicles on the A590 in Barrow to carry out random checks.
Motorists have reported officers are pulling over cars on the A590 close to Kimberly-Clark in Barrow.
Cars are being directed into the lay-by opposite the paper mill. Police can carry out checks on various aspects of both commercial and private vehicles.
COMMERCIAL VEHICLE CHECKS INCLUDE:
Checking authorised load weights and type of load permitted;
Checking vehicles for roadworthiness and mechanical faults;
Looking at your tachograph records making sure you have a valid occupational driving licence.
PRIVATE VEHICLE CHECKS INCLUDE:
Looking for defective tyres and those with insufficient tread depths;
Driving licence, insurance and road tax;
Lights and indicators.
