PLANS have been submitted to demolish the former police station in Barrow and build a huge 127-bedroom hotel.
The proposal to build the Holiday Inn Express have been submitted to Barrow Borough Council and includes 127 bedrooms, a car park and landscaping.
A period of public consultation has opened, because of the scale and location of the proposed hotel, which would be next to the Town Hall, a listed building.
The public consultation is due to end on September 8 with a decision on the plans to be made by the planning committee by November 3.
The former police station closed when its replacement, in Andrews Way, opened.
