FURNESS Lions have made a huge donation to the appeal raising money to fund the new maternity unit at Furness General Hospital.
At a presentation inside the hospital representatives from the Lions handed over a cheque for £5,000 to hospital bosses.
Ted Rockley, press officer for the Furness Lions, said: "As this is the centennial year of Lions Clubs International, Furness Lions Club have donated £5,000 to the brand new maternity unit at Furness General Hospital. The donation is for lifesaving equipment in the neonatal unit."
To help fund the huge project at FGH the Bayb Maternity Appeal has been tirelessly raising money to kit out the new unit.
The group has almost reached its target of £250,000, with around £70,000 needed by the end of March 2018.
