AS working parents with a small daughter, Emma Lord and Andrew Weatherall wanted a house they could move into without having to carry out a lot of work.

As they told SUSAN GOODSON, when they finally found what they were looking for they were twice as happy because as an added advantage it came with a  detached double garage and secure off-road parking

AN immaculate house which backs on to a quiet cul de sac didn’t take long to win over Emma and Andrew.

It just ticked so many of their boxes – double garage, two reception rooms and four bedrooms – one for the couple, one for their then one-year-old daughter Chloe, one for guests and one left over. And not a box room in sight.

The house - 154 Flass Lane, Barrow - is a modern detached family home with two reception rooms, a kitchen/diner, utility room and ground floor WC.

To the first floor are four bedrooms, one with an en-suite, a family-sized four-piece bathroom and a boarded-out loft.

Outside there is a detached double garage with off-road parking and both front and back gardens, including decking.

This modern but welcoming property is an attractive low maintenance home which is also versatile enough to adjust to a growing family’s needs.

It has plenty of storage both in the house and the garage.

Talking about their home, Emma said: “We both work and did not want a property that was a major project.

“Our daughter Chloe was only one when we moved in so we didn’t want her around a lot of building or decorating work.

“The property was immaculate when we moved in so apart from changing the decorating to suite us, such as Chloe’s bedroom we haven’t had to do much.

“We did have some new carpets put down and increased the amount of storage by boarding out the attic and making space in the garage.”

There is also added storage under the stairs.

Along with the double garage the couple liked that the off-road parking was a secure area and behind the property out of sight.

It really comes into its own with an active child who is now two.

She gets out of the car into an enclosed area so there is no chance of her running off or getting on to the road.

Emma added: “Having two reception rooms is really handy and means we have our own grown-up area for relaxing or when people come round while the other has Chloe’s toys in it.

"The kitchen is big enough to have a dining table in it, but if people wanted they could use the second reception room as a separate dining area.

“From the kitchen there are doors leading to the utility room, reception room two and the entrance hall.

"The bedrooms are also a good size which means our daughter has a good-sized room, there is a double bedroom for guests and our bedroom has an en-suite which is so handy.

“Even the smallest bedroom is still a proper single size. “

“I use one of the bedrooms as an office because I work from home.

“Outside we have the decking to relax on while Chloe can ride her bike or be outside safely as it has a locked gate at the back.”

The couple have enjoyed many picnics out in the garden.

Emma said: “The only reason we are selling now is that we want a house that is more out on its own with some land.

“We love the house and if we could move it and take it with us we would.”
