AN empty premises on Hindpool Retail Park in Barrow is set to be occupied after a new tenant submitted plans to install new signs.

The former Brantano unit at Hindpool Retail Park opposite Tesco Extra in Barrow has stood empty since the shoe retailer went into administration in January last year.

Signage was put up at the former Brantano unit in July of the same year, with bed retailer Dreams set to open in the empty unit. However this later fell through with Dreams pulling out.

Dreams had previously operated a 10,000 sq ft outlet in Barrow, on Hollywood Retail Park. The store opened in 2008 but closed a few years ago.

Now Cancer Research UK has submitted a planning application to Barrow Borough Council to install signage to operate the unit as a retail store and warehouse.

Cancer Research also has a smaller charity shop in Dalton Road.

A decision is set to be made by October 27.
